Collection: Katarina Hård
Katarina Hård is a Polish-born Swedish artist whose expressive and symbol-rich work is deeply rooted in emotional intensity, mysticism, and philosophical exploration. Educated at the Art Academy in Kraków with a specialization in graphics, she moved to Sweden in 1977. She quickly adapted to her new life, immersing herself in the cultural scene and gradually establishing herself as a respected artist. Her art resists traditional labels—though often described as romantic or mystical, it is best understood as a deeply personal expression of inner dualities such as faith and doubt, light and shadow, and emotional vulnerability versus strength. Drawing inspiration from medieval history, spiritual inquiry, and human psychology, her works are known for their narrative depth and symbolic complexity. She frequently uses layered acrylic techniques, often creating a three-dimensional effect that enhances the visual and emotional depth of her compositions. One of her most poignant projects, the Requiem series, deals with grief and transformation, symbolizing a spiritual journey beyond physical existence. Katarina is also strongly committed to social issues, especially youth outreach, and has worked actively to educate young people about the consequences of drug abuse, including contributing to the impactful educational film Key West. She sees art not only as a medium for personal expression but also as a tool for emotional connection and social responsibility. Her artistic philosophy emphasizes staying curious, rejecting artistic stagnation, and remaining true to one’s inner voice rather than following fleeting trends. Katarina Hård’s work continues to engage audiences on both a visual and emotional level, offering a powerful reflection on the complexity of human experience.
