Collection: Magnus Dahlbäck

Magnus approaches painting without a predetermined plan, allowing the image to shape itself as he works. His themes emerge organically, drawing inspiration from the world, though he does not depict it directly. He believes in the importance of self-expression beyond words—through dance, painting, or any creative outlet.

Lacking a studio, Magnus feels creatively hindered, emphasizing that art is more than aesthetics; it is his own kingdom, where subjective truth exists in the moment. His process is like a conversation—when he listens deeply, meaningful work happens; when he forces control, the result falls flat.

Inspired by artists like William Kentridge and Helene Schjerfbeck, he recalls his first significant painting—a still life where the empty space became as relevant as the subject. Looking ahead, Magnus hopes to establish a new studio and continue exploring photography, seeking ways to merge it with drawing to uncover new artistic possibilities.
