Collection: Maria Lager

Maria Lager, born in 1967 in Gothenburg, believes that closely observing one’s surroundings reveals hidden details, highlighting life’s uniqueness and inspiring curiosity to explore and interpret the world. Through her painting, she seeks to capture these fleeting moments poetically, creating imagery that encourages contemplation and reflection. She describes her artistic approach as a blend of soft, fluid surfaces and sharp, distinct details, forming a timeless landscape of memory. Growing up in a family of artists deeply influenced her creative journey, with her mother, Malin Lager, working as a textile artist, her father, Tord Lager, as a painter, cartoonist, and graphic artist, and her grandparents, Gerd and Niklas Göran, excelling in painting, sculpture, and graphic arts. She explains that this rich artistic heritage laid the foundation for her passion for free expression. Since completing her art studies in 1990, she has exhibited widely across Sweden and internationally, with her work represented in various municipalities and county collections.
